Hi everyone, this is now your tutorial weblog, so make it into whatever you want it to be. I've just found an animated version/vision of Donna Haraway's Cyborg Manifestoon youtube you might be interested in. alison
Ghost in the Shell has got to be one of my all time favourite Cyberpunk animes. You can see all the elements the Wachowski brothers took from it and tweeked to make The Matrix. Awesome movie(but needs to be watched with English Subs)
It's been awhile since I watched it, but would you throw Akira under the cyberpunk genre? Or just sci-fi. (well I just happened to be looking at a wiki on topic and it's suggested that yes, it's cyberpunk/also relevant to creation of The Matrix. I feel a bit better! I was mainly throwing it in because I remembered the gritty futuristic world, and thats generally what I connect with cyberpunk).
And kudos on being a subs fan! I generally can't stand dubbed anime :(
Hate to be on and on with The Matrix-related materials, but for a fairly entertaining introduction (both to The Matrix and for thoughts on humans and intelligent/self aware machines, check out the Animatrix, specifically 'The Second Renaissance'.
